Only an introduction to an Unforgettable Weekend..
All the questions you ask yourself about love. About what it is? How do you know? And is there such a thing as true love? (Hopefully I'm not speaking for a minority).
This weekend I was at Gainesville's University of Florida. It was a three-day two-night trip. I was dropped off by my friend and colleague Christina.. I was nervous to go on the trip. Honestly, I was scared, and Nina tried to console me. She did. And I love her for it. Before I left, me and her ate at Wendy's, and she dropped me off at "Mall of America".
And it was off to the trip..
Alone.. making stops on the way for more people..
And then "Devin" my single-serving, nervous-laugh, I'm-insecure-because-I'm-overweight friend came along. Simply uttering the words "Hey man, scoot over?" almost unintelligibly. And thought to myself, "This nigga said 'scoot'".
I put it behind me, and I decided to take a happy approach to the obviousy nervous guy. (Asshole didn't even remember my name on the trip back.) As he sat down next to me, damp with sweat and a smell that could deter a skunk that lives in the deepest and darkest sewers of New York City enshrouded in human waste.. I introduced myself.
We talked on the way, the time flew, and I got used to the smell. Minding the sides of our thighs touching, his fat ass constantly shifting it's weight. But he was a pretty nice guy, I shouldn't say that. He was french. He was headed for UF to visit his girlfriend (like everyone else on the bus). Earlier I met a guy named Gus. He was a loser who didn't go to college and had a presence like he only cared about looks and everything materialism. I decided to be "nicely ignorant", as in ignoring him nicely.
Well after the whole trip, we had arrived, and everyone left. Everyone except for me and three other people. I was worried, but Jessica told me she was on her way.. waiting.. waiting..
I decided to go the direction where the fat french guy what since his girlfriend was staying at Jessica's same building. Then I heard someone say "D*****?!"
I look in the distance, and I see a tiny girl walking towards me.. I was standing with my duffel bag, wearing a black shirt halfway, and wearing jeans with black sneakers..
I whistle. (Since in school I used to whistle down the halls, and she would know it was me whilst her being in class..) And we both run to each other. Running about a block, we meet each other halfway and I catch her as she jumps into my arms. And the "fairytale/love story" weekend begins with a kiss...
All those questions I mentioned earlier, about love, does it exist, about finding "the one"..
..I found all the answers this weekend..
..And it feels fantastic..
